The River Club Golf Course hole by hole
Par 3Par 4Par 5
Hole 1
Straightaway par 4 with mounds on the right and out-of-bounds on the left. Favor the right side off the tee, then a mid-iron to a small green.
Hole 2
Par 3 with hazards short of the green, so it needs both distance and accuracy. Coming up short is the miss to avoid.
Hole 3
Slight dogleg right. Long hitters can go for the green in two with a straight drive, but laying up to the right is safer because water guards the left.
Hole 4
Aim down the right side off the tee, where there is more room than it looks. A short to mid iron then reaches the green.
Hole 5
The longest hole on the course. Hit a straight tee shot over the fairway bunkers, lay up short of the lake with a long iron, then play a mid-iron to a sloping green.
Hole 6
Short par 4. A tee shot on the right leaves a short iron in, and there is trouble beyond the green.
Hole 7
Long dogleg left that suits a right-to-left shot. A well-struck drive turns the corner, and you need enough club to reach the green.
Hole 8
Par 3 with water and bunkers that looks intimidating. Wind is a major factor, so club selection matters most.
Hole 9
Drive to the left side for a better angle into a long, narrow green.
Hole 10
Trouble on both sides rewards straight hitters. The second shot plays longer than it looks, so take an extra club.
Hole 11
Play to the right to avoid bunkers. The approach needs to move left to right to hold a long, narrow, three-tiered green.
Hole 12
The hardest par 3 on the course, with a very small target that demands an accurate tee shot.
Hole 13
Drive down the right side. Long hitters can reach in two, but watch the waste bunker and water on the left on the second shot.
Hole 14
Long, straightaway par 4 to an elevated green that is a tough target for a fairway wood or long iron.
Hole 15
Shortest of the demanding par 3s, with a large bunker guarding the front. Aim for the center of the green.
Hole 16
Distinctive hole with water on both sides off the tee and an island green. Keep the ball dry.
Hole 17
Long, sharp dogleg left with water down the left side. Do not try to cut the corner; lay up to the right for the best angle.
Hole 18
The signature hole. A straight drive avoids trouble on both sides, then a short iron to a well-guarded green.
