TPC San Antonio – Oaks Course
Plan your round at TPC San Antonio – Oaks Course
The Oaks is the Greg Norman design (with Sergio Garcia as consultant) at TPC San Antonio, which opened in January 2010 beside the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort. It is a par 72 of 7,435 yards from the Tiburon tees (76.6 rating, 145 slope) and has hosted the PGA Tour's Valero Texas Open since 2010. Narrow, tree-lined oak corridors alternate with wider fairways that offer several routes in, with about 100 feet of elevation change and only two forced carries. Access is for club members and their guests and for guests of the resort.

Hole by hole
Walk the course
Par 3Par 4Par 5
Hole 1
368
yds ·Club
Plays slightly downhill into the wind. Favor the left side for a better angle, but stay out of the large bunker down that side, and respect the well-guarded green.
Hole 2
526
yds ·Club
A par 5 playing slightly downhill into the wind, with fairway bunkers only the longest hitters reach. Hit an accurate second so the third comes from the fairway, then a short iron to a double green with a large bunker hidden behind it.
Hole 3
159
yds ·Club
One of two holes with a forced carry over water, so take a confident medium or long iron. Long is the main danger, and landing on the correct tier avoids three-putts.
Hole 4
412
yds ·Club
Often the toughest par 4 on the front nine, with one of the narrowest fairways on the course. The approach is to a green framed by old oaks and rock-lined bunkers with a lot of movement, so two putts is a good result.
Hole 5
270
yds ·Club
The shortest par 4, playing downhill and downwind, so some players go for the green while others lay up. The green slopes front to back and is hard to hold from the rough.
Hole 6
340
yds ·Club
The tee shot carries a stretch of native area, so aim for the right side of the fairway. A large bunker guards the left of the green and the putting surface runs off to the right, so long is dangerous on back-right pins.
Hole 7
165
yds ·Club
Plays slightly uphill with a crosswind from the right to a long, narrow double green. Aim for the larger half and hit a high, soft shot over the very large bunker in front.
Hole 8
549
yds ·Club
A long par 5 playing uphill and downwind. Avoid the left side and the transplanted oak, keep the second in the fairway, and find the correct level of a split-level, heavily contoured green.
Hole 9
411
yds ·Club
The only hole on the course without a bunker, so the test is accuracy and length off the tee. The green is long, narrow and deep with sharp falloffs on all sides, and putts run fast back to front.
Hole 10
384
yds ·Club
A downhill opener to the back nine that usually plays into the wind. Aim down the left side of the fairway, then find the elevated, deeply bunkered green and avoid the short-right miss that leaves a tough pitch.
Hole 11
331
yds ·Club
Choose between carrying the cross bunker off the tee or laying up short of it. A short drive on the right leaves a carry over a deep greenside bunker to a green with plenty of pitch and roll.
Hole 12
348
yds ·Club
Short but unforgiving: rough off the tee almost guarantees a bogey. The second is an uphill short iron to an elevated, multi-level green with deep twin bunkers, where long is the safest miss.
Hole 13
184
yds ·Club
The longest par 3 on the course, with views of downtown San Antonio. It calls for a right-to-left shot to one of the largest greens, which gives a makeable putt if you find it.
Hole 14
471
yds ·Club
The shortest par 5 and a real birdie chance, with a relatively wide fairway that lets longer hitters go for it in two. Lay up left, because the bunker on the right all but guarantees a bogey.
Hole 15
394
yds ·Club
Starts the finishing stretch and needs a fairway off the tee, staying clear of the right fairway bunker. The small green is guarded by bunkers, and a cross bunker short of it makes the shot look closer than it is.
Hole 16
146
yds ·Club
A green split into three smaller targets by a central bunker, with several tee boxes giving different angles. Hit the correct section for a good chance at par or better.
Hole 17
303
yds ·Club
A short risk-reward par 4 with the widest fairway on the course, where aggressive players can try to drive the green. The best approach comes from the upper fairway, which is guarded by a large bunker.
Hole 18
481
yds ·Club
A long, uphill finisher where the tee shot should shape left to right on a fairway that slopes right to left. Play up the right side to avoid the creek crossing the fairway, then a short iron to a three-tiered green guarded by the creek and three bunkers.
