Arrowhead Country Club – Cypress
Plan your round at Arrowhead Country Club – Cypress
The Cypress is one of three nine-hole courses at Arrowhead Country Club, a 27-hole complex in Myrtle Beach designed by Raymond Floyd and Tom Jackson along the Intracoastal Waterway. It winds through a Carolina hardwood wetland, with bulkhead-protected greens, undulating fairways and large waste areas, and the club calls holes 2, 3 and 4 some of the most scenic in America. The nine plays to par 36 and 3,349 yards from the blue tees (36.1 rating, 143 slope). Rounds of 18 holes pair it with the Lakes or the Waterway.

Arrowhead Country Club – Cypress hole by hole
Par 3Par 4Par 5
Hole 1
332
yds ·Green
A par 4 that needs accuracy more than length. Favor the left side off the tee, where there is more room than it looks, and the left side of the green, where a miss falls into a collection area that helps an up and down.
Hole 2
510
yds ·Green
A true three-shot par 5. Laying up off the tee is not advised because the second shot gets harder the farther back you are; aim for the right half of the fairway and the mounds feed the ball back to the middle.
Hole 3
141
yds ·Green
A demanding par 3 through the wetland, one of the holes the club calls among the most scenic in America. The wind tends to work against you, so take enough club.
Hole 4
322
yds ·Green
A birdie chance if you play conservatively. Driver or 3-wood is usually safe in the generous left side of the fairway, leaving a short iron while missing two fairway bunkers.
Hole 5
280
yds ·Green
The drive decides this hole. A large bunker guards the fairway and two deep valleys on the left make the approach awkward, so the goal is a long, straight drive to the plateau.
Hole 6
138
yds ·Green
A slightly uphill par 3 where an extra club is usually right. A ball that misses the green tends to be deflected into one of the collection areas around it.
Hole 7
335
yds ·Green
Not long, but a drive down the left side matters: the green is one of the smallest on the course and pines on the right can block the approach.
Hole 8
490
yds ·Green
A par 5 with several ways to attack it, all needing precise shots. From the back tees the fairway bunker is a target; the second shot is a long iron aimed just right of the bridge to a large, receptive green.
Hole 9
308
yds ·Green
A gradual dogleg right that finishes the nine well. The fairway is generous on the left, the green is slightly elevated, and approaches tend to come up short.
