Retreat Course
Plan your round at Retreat Course
The Retreat is one of the Sea Island Resort courses on St. Simons Island, Georgia. Davis Love III and his brother Mark redesigned it in 2001, adding about 300 yards and widening the fairways. Georgia pines, native oaks and bunkers frame a par-72 layout of about 6,700 yards from the back tees, more inland than the resort's other courses. A forecaddie can be requested with more than 24 hours' notice.

Retreat Course hole by hole
Par 3Par 4Par 5
Hole 1
489
yds ·Green
Bunkers line the left side of the fairway and water is in play on the approach. A good tee shot gives you a chance to reach this par 5 in two.
Hole 2
318
yds ·Green
A slight dogleg right with a fairway bunker on the left, so accuracy off the tee matters. The green slopes back to front.
Hole 3
151
yds ·Green
Bunkers guard both sides of a large green.
Hole 4
432
yds ·Green
The landing area is forgiving, with a waste bunker on the left. The approach is harder, with a bunker left of the green and chipping swales.
Hole 5
341
yds ·Green
A precise drive sets up a short iron. A bunker sits left of the green and a creek runs down the right.
Hole 6
282
yds ·Green
The signature hole, with tee-shot options from going for the green to laying up. The three-tiered green has a valley through the middle.
Hole 7
144
yds ·Green
Usually a mid-to-short iron to a long green that runs front to back, with a creek along the right.
Hole 8
486
yds ·Green
A risk-reward par 5. Bunkers guard the left side of the drive zone and a large lake sits on the approach.
Hole 9
363
yds ·Green
A bunker protects the left side of the fairway. The second shot is a mid-to-long club to a green with a large bunker on the left.
Hole 10
426
yds ·Green
A short dogleg right that needs two solid shots. The raised green has bunkers at the front and right.
Hole 11
354
yds ·Green
A short-to-mid iron approach to a green that tilts back to front, with bunkers on both sides and a false front.
Hole 12
154
yds ·Green
A long par 3 whose difficulty depends on the hole location. Large bunkers flank both sides of the green.
Hole 13
357
yds ·Green
A long par 4 with a slight bend to the left, and wind can affect it.
Hole 14
411
yds ·Green
The longest par 4 on the course, finishing at a large green.
Hole 15
343
yds ·Green
Many options off the tee: aggressive players can leave a wedge, conservative players a mid-iron. The green has a false front that falls off to the left.
Hole 16
116
yds ·Green
A short par 3 protected by a bunker and water on the left.
Hole 17
480
yds ·Green
Wind is a major factor here. Two large bunkers guard a large green with several pin positions.
Hole 18
319
yds ·Green
A short but tight finisher with water down the left and out of bounds on the right.
