Taconic Golf Club hole by hole
Par 3Par 4Par 5
Hole 1
450
yds ·Purple
Par 5 opener. Aim the tee shot right of center and short of the fairway bunker, then lay up to about the 100-yard marker. The green runs from back left to front right.
Hole 2
339
yds ·Purple
Favor the left side off the tee to stay clear of the bunker. The approach is uphill and plays long to a hard-to-read green, especially with front-left pins.
Hole 3
373
yds ·Purple
Driver is often not needed. The fairway is widest around the 150-yard marker. The green is two-tiered with a false front and breaks back right to front left.
Hole 4
318
yds ·Purple
A creek runs down the left and must be carried on the approach, which also faces a steep false front. Aim for the center of the green.
Hole 5
135
yds ·Purple
Play to the side opposite the flag. The back of the green rises, which makes recovery from long difficult.
Hole 6
335
yds ·Purple
Stay right and avoid the left fairway bunkers. Keep the second shot below the hole on a very fast green that slopes back to front.
Hole 7
350
yds ·Purple
Dogleg right with the center fairway bunker as the aiming point. The uphill approach to a narrow two-tier green is among the hardest on the course.
Hole 8
360
yds ·Purple
Stay left off the tee for the best angle. The second shot plays slightly downhill and a bit shorter.
Hole 9
152
yds ·Purple
A downhill par 3 where wind decides the club; the flag in front of the clubhouse helps read it. Fescue and bunkers on the left make misses costly.
Hole 10
458
yds ·Purple
A par 5 that calls for three controlled shots. The green is fast and two-tiered, and going long is risky.
Hole 11
366
yds ·Purple
A long par 4 where a good drive matters. For front pins, bounce the ball in from the right; for middle or back pins, stay out of the large bunker right of the green.
Hole 12
310
yds ·Purple
Keep the tee shot short of the pines and the right fairway bunker. The approach is uphill to a false-front green that is fastest from back right to front left.
Hole 13
360
yds ·Purple
Aim right of center in the fairway, not at the hill by the 150-yard marker. Uphill lies may need extra club.
Hole 14
145
yds ·Purple
A par 3 surrounded by bunkers, playing about a club shorter than the 9th in similar conditions.
Hole 15
384
yds ·Purple
A downhill tee shot; favor the left to avoid the bunker. The second shot plays short and can be bounced in from the short right.
Hole 16
380
yds ·Purple
The approach plays about 15 yards longer because of elevation. Stay below the hole on a very fast green that slopes back to front.
Hole 17
200
yds ·Purple
A long par 3 where short is best. Many players land short right and let the ball bounce on. The green is very fast with strong breaks.
Hole 18
411
yds ·Purple
Out of bounds runs down the left and a bunker guards the short right of the green. The conservative play is a second shot to the 100-yard marker and then a wedge.
