The Greenbrier - Greenbrier Course
Plan your round at The Greenbrier - Greenbrier Course
The Greenbrier Course at The Greenbrier resort in White Sulphur Springs was designed by Seth Raynor and opened in 1924, then redesigned by Jack Nicklaus in 1977 ahead of the 1979 Ryder Cup. It later hosted the 1994 Solheim Cup, making it the only resort course in the world to host both events. Since 2017 it has been played as a 10-hole routing that can be played as a 9-hole loop or stretched into 18 holes, with terraced, well-bunkered greens and heavily wooded fairways.

The Greenbrier - Greenbrier Course hole by hole
Par 3Par 4Par 5
Hole 1
368
yds ·White
A demanding opening tee shot that has to miss a large oak on the left and a fairway bunker on the right, then a middle to short iron to a slightly elevated, two-level green.
Hole 2
371
yds ·White
The course's signature hole and its hardest tee shot, with trees left and a pond right. The second is all carry to a green guarded by water, with bunkers front and back.
Hole 3
455
yds ·White
A tee shot favoring the right side gives longer hitters a chance to reach in two. Avoid the fairway bunker about 75 yards short, then a short pitch to a small two-tiered green.
Hole 4
142
yds ·White
The first of three par 3s: thread the needle between ravines on both sides, with the deepest bunker on the course at front right of an elevated two-tiered green.
Hole 5
511
yds ·White
The most elevated tee on the course. Favor the left side with the tee shot and second shot, then face a deep, well-bunkered, three-level green.
Hole 6
377
yds ·White
The number one handicap. A long tee shot down the right side is needed, then a fairway wood or long iron that must fly high to hold a shallow, elevated green.
Hole 7
181
yds ·White
A downhill par 3 that plays about one club shorter than its yardage. Miss short, since either side catches deep bunkers. (Card hole 7.)
Hole 8
385
yds ·White
A scenic downhill tee shot that favors the left side, then a middle iron that must avoid water short and right. The upper level of the green slopes away. (Card hole 16.)
Hole 9
133
yds ·White
Water, bunkers and out of bounds guard a narrow, two-level green that is 40 yards deep, so note the pin. A shot that misses the upper tier rolls to the front. (Card hole 17.)
Hole 10
525
yds ·White
A tee shot down the left side opens the second, which should also stay left of the big pines on the right. The wedge to a huge double green is hard to judge. (Card hole 18.)

The 18-hole routing replays holes 2 to 7, 16, 17 and 18 from a different set of tee markers. The course uses a lightning warning system: a long 15-second horn blast means take shelter at once.
