Sheep Ranch
Plan your round at Sheep Ranch
Sheep Ranch is the fifth full course at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort, designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw and opened in 2020. It plays across open clifftop ground above the Pacific with no sand bunkers, only grass hollows, wide fairways, gorse and big greens; the 1st, 3rd, 16th and 17th sit right on the bluffs. It is the windiest course at the resort. Par 72, 6,636 yards from the Black tees (72.1 / 122).

Sheep Ranch hole by hole
Par 3Par 4Par 5
Hole 1
491
yds ·Gold
A downhill par 5 with trees framing the tee shot, which narrows toward the ocean. The clubhouse is a few steps from the tee, and the first green is perched above the surf.
Hole 2
282
yds ·Gold
A drivable par 4 of about 318 yards from the back tee when the wind is behind you. Gorse guards the green, so a miss is costly.
Hole 3
101
yds ·Gold
A short par 3 of about 120 yards that shares a large tiered green with the 16th. It looks easy but catches many players out.
Hole 4
415
yds ·Gold
A 474-yard par 4 with a blind tee shot. Aim right of the fairway bunkers toward the downhill speed slot; miss it and the hole becomes a three-shotter.
Hole 5
139
yds ·Gold
The longest par 3 on the course at 198 yards, to an elevated green surrounded by mounding.
Hole 6
401
yds ·Gold
The toughest hole on the card at 460 yards, with the coastline threatening a left-to-right tee shot.
Hole 7
110
yds ·Gold
A par 3 played downhill from a slightly elevated tee to a generous green with the beach behind it. Wind direction changes the club by a lot.
Hole 8
382
yds ·Gold
A dogleg-right par 4 of 429 yards. Keep the drive between the trees.
Hole 9
361
yds ·Gold
A par 4 at the south end of the property. Aim for the right-center of the fairway.
Hole 10
356
yds ·Gold
No notes for this hole yet.
Hole 11
463
yds ·Gold
A long par 5 known as Volcano, with a wide fairway, an uphill green and a blind approach.
Hole 12
390
yds ·Gold
The second-hardest hole on the card, a 440-yard par 4 with a tight landing area off the tee.
Hole 13
464
yds ·Gold
A par 5 with three small grass bunkers in the fairway that can stop a drive.
Hole 14
354
yds ·Gold
No notes for this hole yet.
Hole 15
279
yds ·Gold
No notes for this hole yet.
Hole 16
120
yds ·Gold
The only par 3 on the back nine, with the ocean to the left, a narrow approach and the wind usually in your face. It shares its green with the 3rd.
Hole 17
297
yds ·Gold
A short par 4 along the ocean. A ghost tree on the coastline can send errant drives into the water, and the green sits on a tightrope above the surf.
Hole 18
405
yds ·Gold
A short par 5 that invites an aggressive play for an eagle.

Dress code
Casual golf attire is expected and only soft spikes are allowed. Denim is discouraged on the golf courses.
Carts & walking
This course, like every course at the resort, is walking only, and a round covers more than six miles. Caddies are encouraged and can be requested at (541) 347-5909; the caddie fee is paid directly to the caddie plus a tip, and group caddies are also available. Free push carts are provided, or bring your own (motorized pull carts can struggle in the sand). Riding carts are only for golfers with a permanent disability, must be arranged with documentation before arrival, and require a caddie.
Practice facilities
The resort Practice Center has two full ranges, a one-acre putting green, two short game areas and Charlotte's 9-hole par 3 course, open from first light until an hour before sunset. It is free for resort guests and anyone playing one of the courses; others can buy a day pass at a golf shop. The Punchbowl putting course sits next to the Pacific Dunes clubhouse.
Rentals & pro shop
Rental sets from TaylorMade, Titleist, Ping and Miura (right-hand, left-hand and ladies) are offered by the day with golf balls included. They are first come, first served, can't be reserved, and are picked up and returned at the Bandon Dunes Golf Shop. Non-guests leave an ID while renting. Club shipping through Ship Sticks is also supported.
Food & drink
Pacific Grill, on the second floor of the Pacific Dunes clubhouse, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner; reservations are recommended and can be made up to six months ahead at (541) 347-8432.
Pace of play
Plan for a long walk: the resort says a round covers over six miles on foot. Caddies, including double-bag caddies, help keep groups moving. Check with the golf shop for current pace expectations.
Policies
Sheep Ranch is open to the public, though resort guests get priority and lower rates. Day guests can book within 21 days of play, or further ahead at a premium rate for April through mid-November. Golf-only deposits are non-refundable inside 90 days. If you skip a round for weather, contact the golf shop for a voucher; once you tee off you are committed.
