Bandon Trails
Plan your round at Bandon Trails
Bandon Trails is the third course at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort on the southern Oregon coast, designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw and opened in 2005. It starts in the dunes, moves inland through forest and meadow, and finishes back in the dunes, with fescue fairways and greens and several memorable par 3s. It is the most inland of the resort's courses and is known for its routing and varied terrain. Par 71, 6,788 yards from the Black tees (73.6 / 130).

Hole by hole
Walk the course
Par 3Par 4Par 5
Hole 1
356
yds ·Green
A slight dogleg right through the dunes, playing south to an elevated green. The fairway is wide, but level lies are hard to find.
Hole 2
166
yds ·Green
A short par 3 through the dunes. The landing area short of the green is mostly hidden, and there is more room than the tee suggests. Missing left causes trouble.
Hole 3
532
yds ·Green
The course shifts from dunes to wooded hills on this par 5. Centerline bunkers come into play on the second shot, but none touch the green.
Hole 4
365
yds ·Green
A diagonal ridge crosses the fairway. Drives that carry it or stay left see the green, while a miss right leaves a blind approach. Three bunkers sit far right of the green.
Hole 5
124
yds ·Green
A short par 3 where trees have been cleared to open the views. The surrounding terrain feeds into the contoured green, so a ball can finish far from where it looked headed.
Hole 6
359
yds ·Green
A small, well-placed bunker complicates the drive. Playing high right of it opens a view of the green but can leave an awkward lie. The fairway blends into the putting surface.
Hole 7
406
yds ·Green
A long par 4 with a heavily bunkered fairway and an elevated, sloped green. The front is open so long approaches can run on, and the big green slopes sharply back to front, so keep your approach below the hole.
Hole 8
299
yds ·Green
A short risk-reward par 4 where the green is reachable for many players. A miss left is likely lost, so decide before you pull driver.
Hole 9
522
yds ·Green
A classic three-shot-or-go-for-it par 5 and a break in the round. The fairway is bunkered but wide, and the open ground continues around the green.
Hole 10
393
yds ·Green
The fairway is very wide, but hugging the left side gives a better angle and a shorter approach. The large green can invite a false sense of comfort.
Hole 11
429
yds ·Green
A long dogleg right with the resort's only internal water hazard, a pond guarding the right side of the green. The front is open, so most players can run the ball on.
Hole 12
235
yds ·Green
One of the longer par 3s, with room to miss the tee shot, especially right. A large knob beside the green makes recovery from the right very hard, and short is the safest miss from behind.
Hole 13
374
yds ·Green
A rumpled two-shotter that asks for accuracy on both shots. Driving left sets up the best line into a narrow green, and a miss left can roll about 20 yards down a steep slope.
Hole 14
306
yds ·Green
A short par 4 with a high tee and a view of the ocean, dunes and distant mountains. A tee shot short right leaves a steep blind uphill approach, the left side gives a better angle, and the small green sheds long or right misses.
Hole 15
367
yds ·Green
The best line off the tee is at or right of the cross bunker, which allows an approach up the mouth of the green. The green is one of the more attractive on the course.
Hole 16
494
yds ·Green
A short par 5 on the card that plays much longer, uphill and often into the wind. The sloped fairway can add distance to drives up the right side, the green is well bunkered, and this is the toughest walk on the course.
Hole 17
159
yds ·Green
The last one-shotter plays downhill to a narrow green with a false front that must be carried. Distance control matters and there is little room to miss.
Hole 18
363
yds ·Green
The finishing hole plays back through the dunes toward the clubhouse. The fairway is mounded and level lies are rare, and the large green is the last test.

Arrival & check-in
Bandon Trails has its own clubhouse on the resort. The main Practice Center is on Round Lake Road, and resort guests can skip the car with the free 24-hour shuttle (call (541) 347-5894 or use the shuttle app). Check with the golf shop on where to check in and when to arrive.
Dress code
Casual golf attire is expected and only soft spikes are allowed. Denim is discouraged on the golf courses.
Carts & walking
Pacific Dunes, like every course at the resort, is walking only, and a round covers more than six miles. Caddies are encouraged and can be requested at (541) 347-5909; the caddie fee is paid directly to the caddie plus a tip, and group caddies are also available. Free push carts are provided, or bring your own (motorized pull carts can struggle in the sand). Riding carts are only for golfers with a permanent disability, must be arranged with documentation before arrival, and require a caddie.
Practice facilities
The resort Practice Center has two full ranges, a one-acre putting green, two short game areas and Charlotte's 9-hole par 3 course, open from first light until an hour before sunset. It is free for resort guests and anyone playing one of the courses; others can buy a day pass at a golf shop. The Punchbowl putting course sits next to the Pacific Dunes clubhouse.
Rentals & pro shop
Rental sets from TaylorMade, Titleist, Ping and Miura (right-hand, left-hand and ladies) are offered by the day with golf balls included. They are first come, first served, can't be reserved, and are picked up and returned at the Bandon Dunes Golf Shop. Non-guests leave an ID while renting. Club shipping through Ship Sticks is also supported.
Pace of play
Plan for a long walk, since the resort says rounds on foot cover more than six miles and Bandon Trails has hilly stretches, notably the uphill 16th. Caddies help keep groups moving. Check with the golf shop for current pace expectations.
Policies
Pacific Dunes is open to the public, but resort guests get priority and lower rates. Day guests can book within 21 days of play, or further ahead at a premium rate for April through mid-November (tee times after 10 a.m.). Golf-only deposits are non-refundable inside 90 days, and later cancellations forfeit the deposit. If you skip a round for weather, contact the golf shop for a voucher; once you tee off you are committed. Greens are aerified twice a year, with a discount if you play within five days of it.
