Pebble Beach Golf Links

Plan your round at Pebble Beach Golf Links

Opened in 1919 and designed by Jack Neville and Douglas Grant, Pebble Beach Golf Links runs along the rocky Carmel Bay coastline of California's Monterey Peninsula. Owned and operated by Pebble Beach Company, it is a public resort course that has hosted six U.S. Opens (1972, 1982, 1992, 2000, 2010, 2019), the 1977 PGA Championship and the 2023 U.S. Women's Open, and the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am is played here every year. A figure-eight routing places as many holes as possible on the ocean, including the tiny par-3 7th, the clifftop 8th, and the par-5 18th, which curves along the seawall to finish.

Before you go

Everything to know on arrival

Know before you go

  • Resort guests can book up to 18 months out; non-guests only within 24 hours
  • Request a caddie at least 72 hours ahead
  • Tell the 17-Mile Drive gate attendant you have a tee time
  • No denim, cargo shorts, or sweats
  • Carts stay on the cart path at all times
  • 14-day cancellation policy, rain or shine
  • Plan on roughly 4¼–5 hours depending on tee time

Arrival & check-in

Pebble Beach is a gated community. From Highway 1 just north of Carmel-by-the-Sea, take exit 399A, follow the signs for 17-Mile Drive/Pebble Beach, and enter through one of the gatehouses. Tell the gate attendant you have a tee time. Depending on your business at the resort, you may not have to pay the 17-Mile Drive fee. The course sits beside The Lodge at Pebble Beach. A tee captain meets each group on the 1st tee, gives you course information, and reminds you of your pace-of-play time.

Dress code

Wear a golf shirt and golf-appropriate outerwear. Shorts and pants are both welcome, but not denim, cargo, or sweats.

Carts & walking

Walking is allowed and a caddie is recommended. Caddies know the greens and yardages. They're optional and based on availability, so request one at least 72 hours ahead. Fees are $175 per bag for a single caddie and $125 per bag for a double, and the suggested tip is $100 per bag (single) or $75 per bag (double). Carts are $60 per player for the 2026–27 season and must stay on the cart path at all times.

Practice facilities

The Pebble Beach Golf Academy & Practice Facility (3260 Stevenson Drive) is up the hill from the 1st tee. It has a 350-yard, double-ended driving range with room for up to 85 golfers, a 40,000 sq ft short-game complex with bunkers, chipping areas, and a large putting green, and three indoor teaching studios. There's also a putting green near the 1st tee. Across the street is The Hay, a 9-hole par-3 short course redesigned by Tiger Woods' TGR Design, along with a putting course that's free to everyone.

Rentals & pro shop

Rental clubs cost $120 per bag plus tax.

Food & drink

The Gallery Cafe sits next to the 1st tee and looks out over the opening tee shots. The Tap Room and Stillwater Bar & Grill, which overlooks the 18th hole, are both in The Lodge area, a short walk from the 1st tee. They're good options before or after your round.

Pace of play

Expected round times depend on tee time: 6:30–7:50 a.m., 4 hours 15 minutes; 8:00–8:50, 4:30; 9:00–9:50, 4:40; 10:00–10:50, 4:45; 11:00–11:50, 4:50; noon and later, 4:55. At the 1st tee, the tee captain tells your group its pace-of-play time, and the course uses a GPS-based system to manage pace. Visitors say rounds often run longer than these targets.

Policies

Resort guests can reserve guaranteed tee times up to 18 months ahead, usually with a minimum two-night stay at The Lodge at Pebble Beach, The Inn at Spanish Bay, or Casa Palmero. Non-guests can book only within 24 hours of a tee time, if one is available. The green fee is $695 from April 1, 2026 through March 31, 2027, plus the cart fee. Tee times have a 14-day cancellation policy year-round, rain or shine. If the course is open, you're expected to play as scheduled, and no exceptions are made before the day of play.

Info last reviewed October 10, 2026. Policies change — confirm with the course before your round.

Windsor is a grumpy old golf coach who has seen every mistake twice. He flies you down each hole in 3D, points out the sand, tells you where to miss, and talks you out of the shot you were about to try.
